Festi’Spirit in France

Festi’Spirit in June 2012, the first big spiritual festival in France, was a great success! It has been a 2-year preparation work for us, but the ’3-day festival’ turned out really great. Many people came, more than 600 people every day. That’s very good for a first time festival! People came from all parts of France, some from Switzerland, Quebec, and there was a surprising good mix of young and old.

From day one, everything happened beautifully: people visited the many workshops, conferences and meditations which were on the programme. The conferences and workshops were lead by 40 people from different fields: meditation, tantra, yoga, qi gong, therapy, shamanism, Gurdjieff movements, etc. and we had also a small international touch with Margot Anand, Ma Sarita, Maha Vajra, etc.

Many sannyasins facilitated Osho Active Meditations and we gave a large space (the biggest) to the Osho meditations. There must have been around 200 sannyasins attending the festival.

We also had outdoor concerts in a beautiful field surrounded by trees. Every day we had a different band: Satyaa & Pari on Friday, Prem Joshua on Saturday and Marc Vella (a French pianist) on Sunday afternoon. We all enjoyed the different flavours of these concerts. We had invested a good amout of money for stage, sound technician and music equipment, because we wanted to give the best we could to the music bands – and we think it was worth it.

The venue of the festival was a seminar center located in Cogolin, south of France, called ‘Trimurti’, in the middle of nature and with a view over the bay of Saint Tropez. ‘Trimurti’ is spacious and the landscape around it gorgeous. For everybody there was a holiday feeling. The weather was amazing and very hot, no wonder the swimming pool was so much loved, in particular in the evening.

The ‘Trimurti’ team was well organised and merged well with our team. They took good care of all practical matters: welcome center, parking, security, food, accommodation, etc. We enjoyed working with them because we felt they were grounded, very sweet and “yes” oriented!

250 people could sleep on the site, another 350 people lived a few kilometers away on camping sites, hotels or guest houses. We were astonished how well this worked, even for the 7am events: the Osho Dynamic Meditation and the morning Yoga classes were always full!

We also had a Zen market where our sponsors who had supported the festival could sell their products: aura soma, meditative music, books, Almasta for Osho books, Tantra Skydancing, a travel agency specializing in spiritual travels, etc. The entrance ticket for Festi’Spirit 2012 was only 70 € for the 3 days. It happened that it was just enough to cover all expenses.

We got a lot of good feed-back, but we liked best what some sannyasins said: “We felt we were in Pune for 3 days….”

If you happen to be in France next year, come to meditate and celebrate with us at Festi’Spirit 2013. We are now preparing the next one that will take place on June 21, 22 and 23, 2013, again at ‘Trimurti’. Check the website where all details will be put online as soon as the 2013 programme is confirmed. We plan to make it an annual event in France!

Osheanic Festival in Brasil (16 Sept – 10 Oct)

The Osheanic center in Fortaleza, Brazil, will host one of the biggest Osho festivals in South America – and this from 16th September till 10th October 2012 – full 25 days!

The organisers are expecting participants from over 20 countries to join the Festival. Daily Osho Active Meditations, mini sessions, therapy and music events, concerts and celebrations will complement a vast variety of workshops, some run by world acclaimed groups faciliators such as Krishnanada with ‘Healing Intimacy’, Turiya with ‘Path of Love’, Svagito with ‘Family Constellation’, Homa and Mukto with ‘Tantra Consciousness’. To top it all, Meera will facilitate a painting workshop ‘Art Therapy’ and Milarepa a ‘Heart Dance’ and a ‘Music Group’.

Osheanic International is located in a tropical setting in the north-eastern part of Brazil, 5 minutes from the beach and 30-40 minutes from Fortaleza International Airport which is connected with direct flights from Lisbon and Rome. The center is surrounded by sand dunes and tropical trees. The property is 60,000 m2 with 2 spacious meditation halls, luxurious accommodation, a 25 meter-long swimming pool and plenty of room to chill out and enjoy luscious tropical nature. The climate in this part of Brazil is just perfect with warm sun and a pleasant breeze from the sea.

Osho News asked the organisers to tell us more about the center and how they had the idea to create this Festival. “Osheanic was founded and is run by friends of Osho. Last winter we travelled around the North of India. There we met with a group of friends and had lunch together in an Osho center near Rishikesh. While enjoying a veg. curry and sipping chai, we suddenly realised that it had been a real long time since we enjoyed being together and shared the energy of a buddhafield with friends.

“Out of this we decided to organise a gathering of friends from around the world at Osheanic. From this point on everything unfolded spontaneously. Many people strated to get involved. Everything happened with a sense of easiness and flow, from all sides.

“Now, a month before the Festival, the energy at Osheanic is taking momentum with a team of 20 friends from many parts of the world, all working together to set up this beautiful event. Even the three cats of Osheanic, Milo, Beijo and Batman are feeling the growing excitement. Apart from the meditation, therapy, music and art events the Festival will be a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and re-connect with old ones.”

An exciting opportunity is being offered by Avesh and Varsha who are organising a spirited journey to visit the various places where Osho lived, went to school, studied, lectured and became enlightened. Besides visiting those historical sites, there will be an opportunity to meet several friends of Osho from the time when he was young.

The journey starts on January 22, 2013 in Delhi with a flight to Khajuraho, then on to Sagar, Kuchwada, Gadarwara, and Jabalpur, ending with a return flight to Delhi on February 2, 2013.

Osho Festival in Italy!

It is that time of the year – April – when the annual Osho Festival takes off! Due to its success in the previous ten years when it was held in Riccione, this year’s festival will be held at a brand new conference center in Bellaria, just a little to the North of Riccione, on the Adriatic Sea.

This conference center is equipped with three huge halls – enough space to hold the more than fifty events and meditations planned and can accommodate the well over thousand enthusistic participants coming from all over Europe. Those who were in Pune or Rajneeshpuram will remember the incredible explosion of energy that happens when so many do Dynamic, Kundalini, and the Evening Meditation together.

There will be a variety of events led by well-known international facilitators – Anando, Svagito, Tarika, Homa & Mukto. There will be lots of dances, live music and the largest AUM Meditation in the world. Plus a wide range of individual mini sessions (more than twenty different techniques will be availble) to partake at a nominal fee.

As one of the many previous participants enthused, “You can try out different techniques, different workshop leaders and find out what is best for you… and meet beautiful people, old friends (and make new ones)!”

Osho Festival…
You have to be there
to fully understand
how magical it is!”

Introducing a new feature this year, the festival will have a more international flavor as most of the events and meditations will be led in English with Italian translations. Also the program and all information will be in English.

We have also arranged for central hotel bookings through ‘Turismhotels’ offering special rates for festival participants, with the best quality in every price range.

Remember the magic date: April 4 to 7 – and we look forward to seeing you there!

Since cruises as meditation festivals have proven to be a good combination after this year’s Mediterranean cruise organised by the Italians in June, we will have another cruise next spring, but this time in the Gulf of Mexico.

The retreat is called ‘Art of Gracefulness’ and is facilitated by Tapoban’s Arun. The cruiser’s name is ‘Carnival Elation’ which is very fitting for an Osho event.

The ship sails from Mobile, Alabama on March 31, 2011, stops in Cozumel, Mexico and will return to Mobile on April 4. Already 70 people have signed up, but more space is available. To find out more go to this website: www.oshona.com

Relaxing Body MindJune 3 – 9, 2013
Art of Relaxing Body Mind
Facilitated by Swami Shiv Bharti & Ma Yog Madhu
It is suggested to participate in this process for all the seven days.

“Relaxation has to be a very simple understanding… no effort, no doing – you just sit silently, and let your body relax. There is nowhere to go, nothing to do, nothing to achieve, so there is no point in being tense – because you have it already within you. Relaxation becomes possible without any effort. You are sitting where you want to reach, so what is the point of making any effort? You have always been in the space where you want to be, you just have not looked inwards.” Osho

No Mind GroupJune 12 – 18, 2013
No Mind Group
Facilitated by Swami Avinash Bharti
It is suggested to participate in this process for all the seven days.

“No-mind means intelligence; mind means gibberish, not intelligence. And when I am asking you for gibberish, I am simply asking you to throw out the mind and all its activity so you remain behind, pure, clean, transparent, perceptive.” Osho

RelationshipJune 19 – 23, 2013
Relationship: A Mystery
Facilitated by Swami Ravindra Bharti

“Relationship is created by you, but then, in its turn, relationship creates you. Two persons meet, that means two worlds meet. It is not a simple thing but very complex, the most complex. Each person is a world unto himself or herself, a complex mystery with a long past and an eternal future. In the beginning only peripheries meet. But if the relationship grows intimate, becomes closer, becomes deeper, then by and by centers start meeting. When centers meet, it is called love.” Osho

Osho MeditationsJune 28 – July 2, 2013
Osho Meditations to transform the quality of your work and life
Facilitated by Swami Atmo Ninad

“When you are in deep meditation, you feel a great serenity, a joy that is unknown to you, a watchfulness that is a new guest. Soon this watchfulness will become the host. The day the watchfulness becomes the host, it remains twenty-four hours with you. And out of this watchfulness, whatever you do has a wisdom in it. Whatever you do shows a clarity, a purity, a spontaneity, a grace.” Osho

Oshodham Born AgainMay 10 – 16, 2013
Born Again Group
Facilitated by Swami Prem Vartan

It is suggested to participate in this process for all the seven days.

“Religion is the greatest creativity because it is an effort to give birth to yourself, to become a father and mother to yourself, to be born again, to be reborn through meditation, through awareness. Poetry is good, painting is good – but when you give birth to your own consciousness, there is no comparison. Then you have given birth to the ultimate poetry, the ultimate music, the ultimate dance.” Osho

The next full moon on June 23 will not only be the largest full moon of the year but also the moon’s closest encounter with Earth for the entire year. We’ll be able to almost touch!

Called a perigree full moon by astronomers, it will be at its closest point to Earth at precisely 11.32 Universal Time aka GMT.

Although last May’s full moon was also called a supermoon, June’s will be even more magnificent. For many viewers, the moon will appear about as full on the evening of June 22nd as on the evening of the 23rd.

For those who want more scientific facts please watch this video, but if you are more mystically inclined, just enjoy the celestial spectacle.

So many people were dancing and meditating in a Buddha Hall almost bursting at the seams! I danced outside with many others because there was not enough space inside the hall. And the weather was so beautiful – only some little showers and the sun hidden behind the clouds – cool! A real master-disciple day with the moon appearing and and disappearing in the clouds during the evening. A lovely breeze helped us celebrate the day along with the many birds and trees dancing in their own way to the beautiful music.

The radiant faces in the slideshow tell of the bliss and joy experienced. A special surprise was the release of the DVD ‘Osho – Ocean of Bliss‘, especially created for this day.

Oshodham’s Kirtan group was so vibrant and energetic while Osho’s voice brought serenity and silence. Ravindra Bharti and Dharm Jyoti selected exquisite discourses of the master to take us on the inner journey. When Buddha Hall reverberated with Osho! Osho! Osho! it felt as if Osho’s blessings were showering that very moment.

The food was delectable as always – a healthy celebration feast without spices and fat. The jamun trees (also known as Java Plum; many Hindus regard jamun as a ‘fruit of the gods’) were weighed down with dark purple jamuns and thousands of ripe ones had been collected from the ground and offered in the dining hall during daytime for visitors to enjoy.

Our Heroes Are Back!

The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam had the idea to bring art to the people and then, hopefully, for them to come to see more. The slogan ‘Our Heroes are Back’ was used to announce that after an absence of one decade, all major pieces in the Rijksmuseum’s collection are back where they belong. This is what happened when a crew suddenly emerged in an unsuspecting shopping mall in The Netherlands:

They took Rembrandt’s painting from 1642, The Night Watch, and brought it to life. Some in the audience appear as if they don’t know what hit them; they might even experienced a moment of being out of their minds!

Milarepa on Tour in the US

Milarepa and his OneSky Band will start their tour in Atlanta, Ga (27-29 Sept), followed by Dallas (4-6 Oct), Chicago (11-13 Oct), climaxing at the Festival of Meditation and Celebration in New York (18-20 Oct), organised by Satya Priya.

We are quite inspired by Priya’s newsletter, her words reminding us again and again about the importance of meditating in a group. What she says is not only an invitation to come to the event she is organising but to all meditation events and festivals which sannyasins are setting up all over the world.

OneSky Band

Beloveds,

Recently while having coffee with friends after Saturday morning Dynamic Meditation in the West Village, New York City, we were discussing the Evening Meeting Meditation that happens in the Osho Resort, India.

Someone noted how Osho considers it the most important meditation of the day because it is the only time where work totally stops and the entire community comes together to meditate. It was a good reminder to hear this. Obviously, Osho considers this coming together important.

Still high from my energetic meditation that morning with the friends, I understood his insight. Coming together to meditate makes a difference. Coming together makes meditation more effective, its experience more powerful and nourishing than when doing alone. Coming together also makes it fun and easy especially Dynamic Meditation! Coming together, one can say, makes meditation a celebration.

I see the upcoming New York event as something similar. It is always a grand coming-together, an opportunity to dive totally into oneself and be nourished by silence. It is also an opportunity to celebrate one’s meditation – singing, dancing, opening the heart, laughing, crying, relaxing, letting-go – while being supported by the music and beautiful, natural ambience of The Abode venue.

It doesn’t matter which universe each of us will be coming from, living and working as we all do in the world. For these precious few days we put aside busy routines, the mind, pool our energies and give ourselves the most precious gift possible: meditation with all the many blessings it brings.

I want to personally encourage everyone to come this year. Such events are rare and don’t come around so often. They remind us that life can indeed be a celebration. Such opportunities should not to be missed or taken for granted. Because who knows about the future, the next year, or even the next moment?

This year marks sixteen consecutive years of the event. I mean, how amazing is this? By our coming together, we all make it possible. We give the event as a gift to ourselves. But we also take an opportunity to invite others, bring friends, or anyone we know who might be interested in the transformation this event makes possible. Meditation can be a beautiful thing to share with those you care about and love.

There is [Milarepa's] super band line-up on the way with Chandira (bass), Teerth (drums), and Ashik as special guest with his magic violin.

Their tour starts next week in Atlanta, then on to Dallas, Chicago, and finally … New York!

So see you soon!

And Here the Munich MedMob 2013!

It was Prem Joshua who opened this year’s event on Friday the 13th – and the concert in Pacha on Maximilianplatz was a huge success!

As for the MedMob on the next day – it was raining, so only a few die-hards made it to Monopteros in the English Garden – among them Mareile (aka Varda), Deva Sakshi, Pablo, Mahendra (my partner in crime), Ageha, who flew in all the way from Manali, India, and Santosha, who flew in from California; also dodging the rain were Jayant, Paribuddha, Prasuna – as well as two meditative dogs – a Pug and a Jack Russell!

After the MedMob we all started dancing in the rain – Gene Kelly has nothing on us!

It was still raining when we got to The Meeting of Friends at the Chinese Tower where we were only able to get two tables outside the restaurant, but protected by umbrellas; the restaurant usually only caters inside and all tables were booked for a wedding. However, Pablo persuaded the manager to serve us outside and throughout the afternoon friends came by – Christ Krishna, Adheesh, Jhari (hadn’t seen her since her 1999 birthday in Berlin!) – and another frequent flyer from California, Tina Amrit.

It was fun to meet Facebook friends in real life as well (laughing out loud)!

Ah yes, it finally stopped raining and we all moved to the main Chinese tower area with its green tables. By now it was the evening of September 14th.

During the eighties, Munich’s ‘Disco Orange’ was famous. It had been established in 1981 during the Bhagwan Bavarian Buddhafield where also Eva Renzi (remember the scandal?) showed up. ‘Der Spiegel’ even wrote an article (in German) about it and it was managed by our company, Satori Music Gesellschaft.

As we liked the name we decided to revive it and Anurakta, with whom I had launched the BBB in the first place, gave me permission to use it. The Orange Disco started at 9 pm and we finished at 3 am. Full house! More than 150 friends showed up – a rare occurrence since the ‘sannyas scene’ as we know it seems to have largely disappeared.

In a nutshell, we had a blast!

Mega-Retreat in Haridwar

‘Glimpses of Meditation’ was the title of the meditation camp held at the Patanjali Yog Peeth (Yoga Guru Ramdev’s ashram) in Haridwar near Dehradun. The meditations and the sannyas celebration were led by Arun from the Tapoban Centre in Nepal.

It was probably one of the largest residential Osho meditation retreats in a long time, with 1800 participants from all over India and Nepal. 164 friends took sannyas.

The sprawling campus of Baba Ramdev’s ashram Patanjali Yogpeeth Phase II in Haridwar was a unique sight for four days (19-22nd September) as more than 1800 Osho sannyasins and lovers gathered to participate in a 3-day Osho meditation mega-retreat conducted by Arun of Osho Tapoban in which a whopping number 164 newbies also took intiation into Osho neo-sannyas.

After Osho left his body this was the first time that a residential meditation camp of such a large gathering was organised, where so many sannyasins celebrated, meditated and ate under the same roof. The sight of thousands of maroon clad people spread across the campus turned the modern Yoga ashram into an Osho commune that reminded us of Rajneeshpuram in America.

The event was organised through the joint initiative of Osho Tapoban and Patanjali Yogpeeth. Because Baba Ramdev, the founder of Patanjali, was on a visit to the States, the retreat was inaugurated and concluded by Acharya Balkrishna who heads all institutions founded by him.

Speaking on the final day of the camp, Acharya Balkrishna said, “When we inivited Swami Arun to organise a meditation camp in Patanjali, many were surprised that we were organising an Osho event in our ashram. But although we are from different schools, our destination is the same and we are very happy that such a large meditation programme could be organised in our premises and that such a beautiful sannyas celebration happened here. We invite him to organise further events here again.”

Different Osho meditation techniques were practised during the day and in the evenings Arun shared his experiences with our master, a talk which concluded every day with a sannyas celebration.

Arun had come to Haridwar directly from Russia where he had facilitated various meditation retreats. There he had initiated 66 participants into sannyas. Arun is looking forward to similar retreats in the near future, in which thousands of Osho lovers can again come together to meditate and celebrate.
